Who should consider arm lift surgery?
Women over 40 with sagging and loose arms, especially those who develop laxity above the elbow after weight fluctuations, may be suitable candidates. Patients whose skin type is prone to early laxity may also fall into the surgical candidate group.
Regular exercise, skin care products, or weight control can help prevent sagging in the arms and legs to a certain extent, but they cannot stop the aging process.
Especially in women beyond middle age, this concern can become more noticeable during summer when sleeveless clothing is worn. Loosening and sagging above the elbow can be corrected with arm lift surgery.
Arm Lift surgeries, which take approximately 1 hour, are performed with an L-shaped incision extending from the armpit toward the elbow. Excess skin is removed and arm tightness is increased. In some patients with thicker arms, Liposuction may also be added to the procedure.
What kind of result is achieved with arm lift surgery?
After arm lift surgery, scars remain on the inner side of the arms. After 6 months, these scars fade substantially, although they never disappear completely. Since aging continues after the procedure, a certain degree of loosening may recur over time. Weight fluctuations can accelerate this process somewhat, but the arms do not return to their former appearance.
