This is a question that enters everyday conversations from time to time. Almost all of us have debated who complains more when ill or who seems more resistant to pain.
As a plastic surgeon, whether I perform surgery or a non-surgical application, I observe one clear reality: pain sensitivity is not identical in men and women.
Many people assume that women are more resistant to pain because they can give birth. However, scientific findings are more complex. Hormonal factors, biology, pain type, intensity and personal perception all influence how pain is experienced.
In many studies, women report feeling certain types of pain more intensely than men, although pain remains highly personal and cannot be reduced to a single rule.
