Is Beauty Unique Only to Our Time?

Is beauty something specific only to the modern age? Were societies that sought beauty, wanted to possess it or tried to create it only products of our own era?

To reflect on this question, I want to refer to one of the legends of Ancient Greece — a story explored in Voxaesthetic Magazine by astrology researcher Bahar Tornacı.

The myth tells of what is often described as the earliest beauty contest, associated with Zeus, king of the gods. It reminds us that the desire to define beauty is not a modern obsession, but something woven into human history.

Although Ancient Greece did not have plastic surgeons like me shaping beauty, its gods and titans certainly seem to have taken an active interest in the matter.

Joking aside, this ancient story invites us to listen closely to humanity’s enduring relationship with beauty.
