Realistic Expectations in Rhinoplasty
I want to answer some of the questions many people have about rhinoplasty, an operation I have performed with interest and enthusiasm since the beginning of my plastic surgery career.
Rhinoplasty can create very satisfying results, and seeing the happiness it brings to patients is deeply rewarding.
What is rhinoplasty?
The nose stands at the very center of the face and is one of the defining structures of our appearance. While it is responsible for breathing, it also holds a special place in facial aesthetics.
Rhinoplasty can address concerns such as crookedness, excessive size, excessive smallness or problems caused by trauma. It is therefore both an aesthetic and, in some cases, a functional procedure.
Can rhinoplasty improve breathing?
Yes. Rhinoplasty is not performed only for aesthetic reasons. Anatomical structures inside the nose may sometimes obstruct airflow. In such cases, surgery may include corrections to internal structures to help the patient breathe more comfortably.
One of the questions I receive most often is which technique should be used. The answer depends on the patient’s anatomy, functional needs and aesthetic goals. Realistic expectations and individualized planning are central to a successful rhinoplasty journey.
