Where Should Aesthetics Stand on the Path to Self-Actualization?
Hello from the first article of March. As we welcomed 2022, spring has already begun to arrive. The air is softening, and perhaps people are beginning to smile more too.
I have rarely witnessed a time when life moved this quickly, and when needs, dreams, choices and relationships changed and were consumed at such speed. Trends are adopted without always asking whether they truly suit us.
Aesthetics and beauty are among the areas most affected by this acceleration. Social media and amplified beauty trends can easily pull us away from our own genuine needs.
My personal formula is simple: in the middle of an intense life, I try to pause, breathe and return to myself. Remembering my real needs and desires helps me understand both where I stand and what kind of person and surgeon I want to be.
Self-awareness and self-compassion are deeply connected. Once activated, they stay with us. I wanted to begin this month by recalling that self-actualization may be one of the greatest forms of happiness.
