Are Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons Sadists?
I know some people genuinely wonder this. You have probably heard — or perhaps even said — sentences like: “These surgeons are so eager to cut people up!”
But “cutting and chopping” belongs more to botany than to surgery. In surgery, the purpose is not destruction, but restoring form, function, proportion and order when necessary.
This leads to a useful question: if there are easier and faster methods, why do plastic surgeons sometimes prefer the more difficult path of surgery? Why not always solve everything with numbing cream, local anesthesia or a quick clinic procedure?
The shortest answer is simple: because sometimes surgery is what is required.
Of course, plastic surgeons also perform non-surgical procedures and enjoy helping people become more beautiful through them. The point is that not every problem can or should be solved without surgery.
