Who can undergo labiaplasty?
Any woman over the age of 18 who is bothered by the appearance of the inner labia may undergo this procedure. There is no upper age limit.
Labiaplasty is one of the most common genital aesthetic concerns among women. The surgery is performed to correct protrusion and sagging of the inner labia in the genital area.
Due to advancing age, the natural structure of the labia, childbirth or an active sexual life, the inner labia may lose their aesthetic appearance and protrude beyond the outer labia.
This condition may both impair the aesthetic appearance and create a bulging look through bikinis or swimsuits, drawing attention and restricting movement because of discomfort. Labiaplasty is performed under local or general anaesthesia in approximately 30–40 minutes and does not damage the hymen.
Is labiaplasty a permanent solution?
Labiaplasty can provide long-lasting results. However, if multiple consecutive births occur, the aesthetic appearance achieved with labia minora reduction may partially change.
Can labiaplasty be performed without surgery?
Similar applications may be performed with laser and radiofrequency technologies.
What should be considered after labiaplasty?
- Absorbable sutures are used during the operation and disappear on their own after about one week.
- No dressing is usually required; only gentle cleaning of the area with lukewarm water is needed.
- Care should be taken to keep the area dry.
- Showering is possible after 3 days, provided it is done while standing.
- Sexual intercourse, sea swimming and pool use are prohibited for 1 month after the surgery.
- No visible scar remains at the end of the procedure.
